In what may be Scottish football’s least surprising signing announcement, Stenhousemuir Football Club can finally confirm the arrival of striker Hamzad Kargbo.
The 24-year-old completed his move shortly before Friday evening’s trip to Livingston, leaving us with just enough time to register him for the match, but not quite enough time to tell anybody about it.
That plan was slightly undermined when Hamzad was named among the substitutes, before making his Warriors debut in the 82nd minute on live TV in our 1-0 victory. Therefore, for anyone watching at home last night or in the stadium: yes, we can now officially confirm that he has signed!
The powerful centre-forward joins the Warriors following a short spell with fellow William Hill Championship side Inverness Caledonian Thistle, where he made four appearances after arriving during the summer.
Hamzad began his career in the Queens Park Rangers academy, joining the London club at the age of 12. He progressed through the youth ranks at Loftus Road before gaining senior experience during loan spells with Southend United and Oxford City.
After leaving QPR, Hamzad signed for EFL League Two side Newport County before joining Chippenham Town on loan, scoring twice in eight appearances. He subsequently enjoyed a productive campaign with Maidstone United, netting seven goals in 33 appearances before moving to Scotland.
Having already helped the Warriors see out the closing stages of Friday’s victory, Hamzad has now joined Marvin Bartley’s squad as preparations begin for our upcoming fixtures.
Everyone at Stenhousemuir Football Club welcomes Hamzad to Ochilview and wishes him every success in maroon.
