Stenhousemuir Football Club is inviting applications for the position of Head of Community Football.

The purpose of the role is to manage and lead the highly acclaimed Warriors in the Community programme which the football club operates. The club has one of the largest community programmes of any club in Scotland, with around 500 people from the local community taking part in football and education sessions each week, over 10,000 people involved annually and approximately 250,000 visitors to Ochilview Park each year.

The Club is looking for an individual with a significant level of experience in community football within both a coaching and management role who can sustain growth and achieve progress for the programme. The successful applicant must demonstrate the drive, passion and leadership skills capable of helping the club deliver the ambitious outcomes set within the 3 year plan and Community Engagement Strategy.

Role purpose

To manage and coordinate a successful Community Programme on behalf of Stenhousemuir Football Club that has a positive impact on peoples live through football, education and health programmes.

Background

Stenhousemuir Football Club was formed in 1884 and has been a part of the local community for over 130 years.

In more recent times the club changed its legal status to a Community Interest Company (CiC).  Thought to be the first professional football club in the UK to do so, this change ensured that the club would be protected from private ownership and remain fully committed to the local community.

The club has one of the largest community programmes of any club in Scotland, with around 500 people from the local community taking part in football and fitness sessions each week, over 10,000 people involved annually and approximately 250,000 visitors to Ochilview Park each year.

Stenhousemuir FC is looking to continue to grow as a club, maintain and foster new links with local community and business, with Ochilview seen as a positive welcoming community hub that serves and inspires the local community.

 

The role of ‘Head of Community Football’ at Stenhousemuir Football, Warriors in the Community will manage and coordinate all Community and Education Programmes delivered at the football club.

Main responsibilities

Manages All Community Football Programmes (40%)

Tasks

  • Creates / Coordinates and Delivers all weekly community coaching and education programmes based at the football club and other local venues
  • Coordinates and manages all full time / part time community coaches and all volunteer community coaches
  • Meets with key partners to plan and deliver various programmes and yearly events
  • Designs and creates all coaching curriculums for each of our participation programmes, holiday camps and our community select teams.

Coordinates All WITC under 7 – Adult Community Select Teams (30%)

Tasks

  • Creates our Community Select Teams and Girls Teams Training Schedule
  • Organises all Community Team fixtures on a weekly basis
  • Communicates all league / friendly game information to all coaches / players / parents and supporters
  • Delivers sessions around All Community Teams 3 – 4 nights per week
  • Lead Community Teams on a match day at weekends (2 – 3 age groups per Saturday / Sunday)
  • Plans / prepares and delivers all Community Team Parents Meetings and Open Nights.
  • Oversees All Community Team Player / Coach Recruitment
  • Delivers In-Service coach training to team coaches and team volunteers
  • Mentors all younger Community Team coaches and volunteers

Coordinates our ‘Schools’ Initiative Programme (10%)

Tasks

  • Coordinates and Manages our After School Football Programme
  • Coordinates and Delivers all primary school football festivals
  • Meets regularly with school head teachers and active school coordinators to discuss various ways we can get involved at all local schools
  • Plans and delivers school visits and school fun day events
  • Allocates staff to all school programmes

Coordinates and Manages All WITC Staff / Community Coaches / Volunteers (10%)

Tasks

  • Manages Senior Community Coaches hours and coaching delivery
  • Manages our Girls Coordinators coaching hours and coaching delivery
  • Manages all Casual coaches and their coaching hours and delivery
  • Mentors and Coordinator all volunteer and all coaches
  • Assists all coaches with planning and delivery of sessions
  • Have the final say on all community coach / volunteer recruitment
  • Meets with team coaches regularly to discuss players and other team news
  • Meets with casual coaches regularly to discuss various programmes and coaching curriculum’s

Coordinates and Delivers at All WITC Holiday Camps and Football Festivals (10%)

Tasks

  • Plans and Designs all holiday camps flyers and posters (February / Easter / May / Summer / September / October / Christmas)
  • Plans and creates coaching curriculum for our holiday camps
  • Organises staff and coaches to deliver sessions at all camps
  • Delivers full day coaching sessions at all holiday camps (11 – 12 weeks per year)
  • Plans and Coordinates Schools Football Festivals over the year including our Annual Steve Burns Memorial Football Tournament

Knowledge

  • Scottish FA Children’s Award (Children’s Level 2)
  • Scottish FA C Licence (Youth / Adult Level 2)
  • HND or above in Sports related field
  • A Full Driving Licence
  • PVG Disclosure Check
  • Full knowledge of the rules and regulations in competitive and development football at all age groups
Experiences
  • Experience in working with football clubs and within football associations
  • Experience of project  / community management
  • Experience of working with employability and education programmes
  • Experience in managing a team of staff and volunteers
  • Must be used to speaking to senior managers such as MDs
Skills
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills
