Two broken Bones For Dempster

Campbell Money was left to reflect on successive dire Warriors displays on Saturday, seeing his side follow up there 3-0 home defeat East Stirlingshire with another capitulation at Ochilview, this time conceding four unanswered goals to Montrose. However, it was not just the defeat, but the way Stenhousemuir went down that angered their boss, who admitted: “I am not making any excuses for it because we were poor and deserved what we got.”

Action from the game

Money could have blamed a growing injury, which had John Dempster’s name added to it last week, but he expects more from the whole squad, saying: “He [Dempster] has broken two bones in his hand, but irrespective of that, we have to be bigger and better than that. We were missing a player, and I know some players can be important, but we have to be stronger than that as a squad. You have got to cope with it better than we did on Saturday.”

I am sure there will be worries . . .

The manager now has to lift the players and realises that moral is going to be low on and off the pitch at Ochilview. “I am sure there will be worries,” he admitted. “I am sure that everybody who cares anything about the club will be worried about it – I am concerned about it myself, because I believe we have a squad of players who are capable, and I have told them that they are capable, of doing a lot better than we are at the moment.”
And that squad are going to have to rise above these defeats and show what Money believes they can do, as he has reiterated his earlier statement that there are no plans to bring anyone else in. “I have no plans for that and the transfer window is closed now as well,” said Money. “I didn’t have any plans to bring anyone in before and that is still the case.”

Any team would miss John Dempster!

However, the missing players are a worry, although with a week off before the trip to Dumbarton on September 15, there is time for some of the injuries to heal. And Money was well aware of the problems he had on Saturday. “If you look at the squad, the spine of the team wasn’t there on Saturday,” said Money, who added: “and John Hillcoat played while he was certainly less than 100%, probably about 75%, fit while Scott McCulloch, Steve Ferguson and John Dempster are all out with broken bones, and that is a big loss for anybody.”

More Concerning Than Anything Else . . .

However, the missing players were no excuse for the defeat, Money continued: “It was not just the fact we lost the game, because even with these guys we could lose matches, it was the manner of the defeat and the level of performance that was more concerning than anything else.

Warriors Under Pressure as a 75% Fit Hillcoat Looks On

“We have a fortnight before the next game and decisions will be made over the next couple of week with regard to where we take the club and who plays and that type of thing.

“But there is one thing for sure; I cannot continue to watch players playing as poorly as we have done in the last two games.”
