The 'Stenny Way'

The 'Stenny Way'

Our Academy is not just a structure. Our Academy is not just a group of people. Our Academy is not just a programme.

It is all of those things and more, but more importantly it is a philosophy, a mindset, an attitude, a culture, a way of doing things... it is a multi-dimensional concept which we refer to as The 'Stenny Way'.

The 'Stenny Way' is based on the Club's full commitment to the Academy and recognition of the importance of enhancing the development of young football players.

Players within the Academy are expected at all times to ensure the utmost respect towards the criterion of The 'Stenny Way':

  • Speed, strength, stamina, suppleness - the four physiological S's of performance ensuring progressive physical development.
  • Technical development - acquiring ball mastery is essential.
  • Effort, enthusiasm, energy, excitement, enjoyment - the five psychological E's of performance ensuring a positive 'can do' attitude and desire to succeed.
  • New skills and creative tricks - be innovative and express yourself.
  • Nutritional and lifestyle awareness - show commitment on and off the pitch.
  • Your responsibility - take full control of your own individual development as a player.
